Ohm's Law Examples
These worked examples apply Ohm's Law (V = I × R) to find a missing quantity from two known values, the same calculation the Ohm's Law Calculator performs.
Step 1
A circuit has a current of 2 A flowing through a 60 Ω resistor. Find the voltage.
V = I × R = 2 A × 60 Ω = 120 V
Step 2
A 120 V supply is connected across a 60 Ω resistor. Find the current.
I = V ÷ R = 120 V ÷ 60 Ω = 2 A
Step 3
A load draws 2 A from a 120 V supply. Find the resistance.
R = V ÷ I = 120 V ÷ 2 A = 60 Ω
