Power-to-Current Conversion Formula
Most electrical unit conversions on this site reduce to one relationship: current equals power divided by voltage. The HP-to-kW conversions instead use a fixed conversion factor (1 HP = 0.746 kW), since horsepower and watts both measure power directly.
Formula
A = P ÷ V
- A
- Current, in amps
- P
- Power, in watts (or scaled for kW/kVA)
- V
- Voltage, in volts
